Im installing the new Holley sniper quadrajet EFi. Any recommendations on the switched power wire I can use or somewhere in fuse block? The instructions say I can’t use the switched power to the HEI distributor and that was my original plan.

Thank you for any help.

On a 76 there is a pink wire with a black stripe. I have my Holley run from that. I’d have to double check for positive it’s origin (or check the wiring diagram)

Head the warning about pulling power straight from the battery for the terminal wires

Thank you. The instructions say to connect positive and negative directly to the battery.

How about power from the ignition switch? What kind of current does that wire need? A bit of work (ok probably a ton more), but I'm sure the terminals can be re-worked (did it for my power door lock relay connector, didn't cut a single wire to add the additional remote entry setup) so it wouldn't be what I'd consider a hack job, and would always be cleanly reversible if that appeals to you at all.

Doesn't appear yours will need all the extra power my setup did (mine being an OEM application) but I've considered re-wiring the whole rig to take most of the load off the ignition switch terminals, and use them solely to trigger relays for an aftermarket fuse panel.

You might have a green wire that was for an idle stop solenoid on a '76,that gets power only with the key in the "on" position..also one for an electric choke may be present..

Most fuse boxes had accessory taps for "hot" 12V constant power, and keyed power only too,if you use a test lamp you can identify them--usually the constant hot fuse taps had "BATT" on the fuse box,and others with "ACC" got power with the key both in the "on" and "Acc" position,so you need to be sure the tap you want gets power ONLY in the "on" position..

Thanks! I’ll check those out. I need to ensure I have power even when the starter is cranking. The Acc stuff shuts off when that happens. I did see a couple of these labels on the fuse panel I’ll check the the tester.

That wire you want is the pink with black stripe. If you have a power drop during cranking, it will cause issues with the ECM. That wire should be coming off the start switch

I can’t find a pink wire or pink/black wire anywhere under the hood.

It's under the dash
Well that would explain it :-)

And because pictures are fun. I got the new tank in. Removed the plate from riser valve. Blocked the exhaust crossover on the intake. Got the new throttle body in and just need to wire it up now.

What kind of fuel line are you using to feed the injector?

Well I saw the clamps and had the though you used high pressure.
But I figured I would ask before you pulled it down the rail...

The one wire I rigged just to get it running so my wife wouldn’t murder me...I still think she might. BUT it’s running! Still in learn mode. Fired right up.
