This turned out well

Looks great, if only I still had an ashtray. Guess that my two switches will just have to be happy on the face of the old ashtray assembly.

Nope, my CB is mounted there, and I am cutting up the housing and ashtray door to mount three outlets and two switches. CB is pretty secure against theft the way it is mounted.

This is how it currently looks, except for the wires:

couple Contura rockers in a facia panel below to fill that gap would be sweet...

nudge, nudge, wink, wink.... :wink1:

My plan is to use the face of the ashtray assembly, with some careful:hack: to fill the gap and still look original to an extent. The contura switches are nice, but they are spendy, and I don't yet have a purpose for the second switch, keyword yet.

nice spot! I use my ashtray for my pens and tire gauge. My CB is mounted directly beneath the stereo. I never thought of putting my switches in the ashtray.

i think the main difference is he mounted his from the back....as weird as that may sound..haha

Looks Good

I actually plan on doing something very similar but I plan on welding a metal plate in my ashtray only I am going to recess it a bit because I have switches that are a little longer plus they light up and I want to be able to hide them just to give the truck a clean look.
