Switching brands

I love chevy stuff, mostly the 87-91 era cause you get some better stuff but its still a truck kind of deal. Still can get straight front axle on the blazers, burbans, and one tons. The arent too bad priced now, though the crew cab one ton 4x4 dually can be.

Jeeps are ok and I have had 3 yj wranglers and would buy another one anyday of the week if the price is right. Would take a cj7 or cj8 also. But I would swap out everything for chevy drivetrain with full width one ton axles. Mostly just so that it would be a smaller body with one ton stuff so it would fit on some trails better yet still be stout. However, my blazer body has seen better days thanks to both rust and fancy trail dents. So I am throwing around the idea of swapping either a 80s chevy reg cab onto my frame since it would bolt right up, a square body s10 reg cab or extended cab, or making just a tube buggy on my blazer frame. So I would most likely fit on thos "jeep" trails anyway without body damage.

Hell yes. Sold my last 73-91 square body GM last month and now rock a Chevzuki Tracker. Love me some Suzuki goodness. Sadly GM neutered their 4x4 capability in the mid 2000's right before they sold the brand and they just aren't what they used to be any more.:doah:
At least here in the States, you can get the Jimny overseas (sorta like a 2/3 scale Samurai on coil sprung solid axles).

Had a 99 Dodge Ram 4x4 which was a POS and I hated. Part lemon but lots of design flaws. Sexy looking though.

Owned a '96 Ranger 4x4 with the 4.0L V6 and TTB front end...probably one of my favorite vehicles ever. Owned it for 3 years and would buy a good solid Ranger again in a heartbeat...if only Ford would bring their crewcab in that South America got but we didn't...

Had friends with Jeep TJ's, Toyota pickups, Cherokees, Broncos, International Scouts, and a bunch more. All good in some ways...all crappy in others. Just like GM.

Honestly I am to the point in my life where I just want something capable, fun, and new(ish). I get the GM and Ford family plans but honestly nothing 4x4 that either of them makes does much for me. Doesn't spin my crank so to speak.

Meanwhile the 2012 Wrangler has this new variable valve technology 3.6L V6 that nearly makes 300hp, a new 5 speed auto trans, and is proving to reliably get 17mpg around town and 21mpg highway.
Oh, and comes with coil sprung solid axles, 32's standard on most models, lever operated transfer case, and genuine offroad capabilities...uhm...pigs may fly!:waytogo:

I have had my 85 solid axle toyota, and my 85 Blazer, loved both...I cant get a Jeep, its just not appealing (and I too have met many snotty people who wont let anything but jeeps wheel with them--> I say good I dont want to wheel with someone whose a jerk)

I cant get into ford, They just arent made well --solid axle or not

My Blazer never let me down on any trail. Nor did my toyota, but i would have like about 100hp more out of a 22R motor
