IF, theoretically, you were going to switch from big block to 350,then all you would need would be a different throttle body and different injectors because all trucks, regardless of engine, used the same computer(v-6, 305, 350, 454)?

Or not....?

91 bigblocks had 4l80e and a different ECM, 7060 IIRC. All had different programming, which wouldn't be too hard to solve though.

If we forget about 91 with big block for a second:

If we switch from say a 350 to a 4.3 and use the same computer, would the computer immediately start relearning the new parameters?

I’ve never messed with tbi but I would think even if they all use the same ecm, you would have to reflash it or change the prom chip or whatever they use to the appropriate base tune. :dunno:

Wait, remove a Big Block? :screwy:

The rest of your question is irrelevant.

Now where did I leave my ban stick... :D

big block too much for street.

Off road = ok
street/daily driving = financial suicide

tbi = do NOT relearn . there a programed chip only .

So ASSuming the truck has a non-computer controlled trans, and big-block, and we wanted to switch to a smaller engine then we would need a new throttle body, injectors AND CHIP?

and maybe even wiring harness depending on parts used .

and i am sorry i just need to say this ..... you got the wierdest ideas. . . .

i have my like new L31/350 and at times wish i had just done a 454 in it for the work out i give it .

There two chips inside the computer, set to all the pertinent stuff to the chassis and engine

Long story short, you need to match the computer and injectors to the engine. Running the 454 computer and injectors in the 350 will not be desirable

You also need VSS and TCC input and outputs
