my 89 bonneville has 110k on it and so far its going good. i was thinking of switching to some synthetic oil maybe amsoil or royal purple or might just settle with mobil 1.Anyways i am currently running conventional 10w30 castrol gtx in it. should i switch to synthetics? should i just stick with the conventional oil? if i do switch to synthetics do i do a synthetic blend first? and my last question. Can i still use my lucas engine oil stabalizer.thanks guys

Yeah. Why not? If it was for me, I would go to WalMart and get the full synthetic SupraTech. We did some testing in our race engines and foud that that it makes power so close on the dyno that it is surprising, and engine wear when we tear down is basically every bit as good as the big time stuff. Royal Purple at 7 bucks a quart or Wal Mart at 3 bucks? Pretty easy for me. And don't be afraid of their filters either. Great stuff. I would put a supratech filter on my $30,000 race engines before I would ever put a Fram on.

should i just put synthetic right in there when i do my next oil change or do a blend first than a full synthetic? ive just heard of people getting leaks on older cars and older engines if they switch from conventional oil to synthetic

If it is going to leak with a thinner oil, it is going to leak. Faking the engine is not going to do anything. And a synthetic should not leak any more than conventional unless it is a thinner oil than the conventional you were running. Just put synthetic in it and go.
Don't ever use lucas stabilizer.

1) You wont gain anything from synthetic with 100k miles on your motor, your just wasting money.

2) What is wrong with lucas motor stabilizer?
