how hard would it be to change say a 83-86 model 350 into tbi? i already have a 89 motor in my 86 body but the Previous idiot cough i mean owner changed it to a carb intake and a 1405 edelbrock. his messing has the truck running like crap and i cant get it to hold a idle to save my life. id like to run a tbi setup and get rid of the carb altogether just for ease of driving and a little better gas mileage. what alls it gonna take?

Its easy, you will have to cut a 1 3/4in or 2in hole in the firewall and run the wiring through there to mount the computer inside. It will take a lil bit of time, but remember, for the MOST part, only one plug fits into one sensor, so once you figure out where the sensors are, you can lay the wires on the manifold accordingly, and then at that point I would re-loom the entire harness to protect it.

And you can use the carb intake as long as you buy an adapter plate from Transdapt for example. 9 out of 10 times carb intakes are better than TBI ones.

Yes, but 95 uses a higher pressure system that is different from the older ones. I would find an older one, like 87-93ish or so, I cant remember the year cutoff, but they did change it. But you need to keep the tranny and speed sensor in mind with this swap, as it needs all of this to work 100% correctly as well.

ive got the 465 and a 208 now. i assume the speed sensor fits the 208 seeing how it was used in the 87 fuel injected trucks?

Im not exactly sure if a 208 used a VSS. It could have been a np241. Like I said, Im not exactly sure. If your running the sm465 then you dont have to worry about the tranny wiring except for the neutral safety switch (which I dont even run) and reverse light wiring. It would be even easier to find a sm465 truck and wiring harness to simplify the install.

VSS was run from the speedometer from 1982(?)-1989. So no worries about speed sensor. If truck had electronic cruise control, it has the VSS.

1990-1991 VSS was on the transfercase, but the cluster housing was entirely different anyway.

Not that it sounds like it applies, but I'm a big fan of the electronic speedometer setups, getting rid of the cable makes life a fair bit easier, especially when doing things like gear or tire size changes, or constantly pulling the cluster, etc.
