Sychronized NP205 Fork Pads

I used a lathe on the reluctor and a Bridgeport on the housing. Took about 45 min to get the sensor in and reluctor turned down. I didn't add material inside the housing via brazing etc. because it appeared to have ample threads. We'll see how it goes. I had the 205 torn down already so it's hard to judge how long it took if I were to take it out of the truck and perform the conversion. In all, aside from running around and getting parts, I have about 6hrs of labor into rebuilding the case including the conversion. A LOT of that time was cleaning, and it's my first time inside a 205.

Too bad you didn't have a few of the housings and reluctors laying around to crank out a few more. I assume if you did, once initial setup was done, more wouldn't take too long?

I see this as being one of those things that's not in HIGH demand, but when someone wants one, they can't find them, and if they don't have the resources to make it, it's more costly to do.

Yeah, unfortunately the 241 reluctor ring is no longer available. I do have a line on a few used ones at a local drivetrain shop but they are like $50/ea. Without the ring you are pretty much are throwing an NP241 in the scrap heap. Fine if it's junk, but it's kinda like wasted money if it's not. I could probably put together a few sets and require a core which would work for the guys trying to convert from an electric case. Without a case to pillage it would get kinda pricey buying the ring, sensor, and paying for the machine work. If someone has bad cases floating around they would be willing to strip the parts off I would definitely consider putting a few together. I think that all these guys making doublers probably have the spare 205 housing I would need.

True, anyone wanting to replace a VSS version 241 with 205 would have all the parts, they'd just need to strip them down.

Would be nice to be able to do a few sets at once I'm sure, but like you said, getting the parts obviously isn't that easy if they are disco'd. But there are a lot of '90-91 R/V's running around still that have the reluctor, so it shouldn't be that hard to find used.

Funny, quick ebay search and there is a reluctor and sensor going for $35 BIN. That guy selling it is actually a really good guy, I've bought a ton of stuff off him and he is an honest dismantler. I'd bet he would put a few aside for me if he came across them.
