When I rebuild the np241 I'm going to put a SYE kit on it and get a CV driveshaft.
I've seen the kits that have a yoke for u-joints and kits that have a yoke with a flange.
One place sells the kit where you drill and tap your current shaft and they supply the shaft bolt and 4 flange bolts.
Another place, which I believe is ORD, sells the JB conversion with the u-joint yoke.
Is there any advantages to using either set up?

You have your choice of basically anything you want with our kit: flange, regular yoke, 1310, 1350, cv or not etc.

In your case, the flange is the best IMO.

The u-joint is pressed into both the driveshaft yoke and the "flange yoke". There is no way that u-joint is coming loose, put some lock nuts on the bolts and forget it. Plus it's super easy to remove/install.

The u-bolt setup works fine, a little more chance for failure and more of a pain to put together and take apart (plus you can over-tighten the u-bolts and crush the needle bearings which burns up u-joints quickly).

The flange is the same as a superduty front driveshaft flange which is sometimes a bolt in affair if you get the right driveshaft and play a little with lift and rear springs.

Chris, do you also do the CV driveshaft, or is that something I need to order from elsewhere?
I'll PM you about some other items.
Thanks
Willie

I used the stock front output flange and had a C/V driveshaft built to match. Shaft didn't cost any more and the flange was free. This is the flange for the 3R (saginaw-style) joint. 3.125" pilot and 4.25" bolt circle

You can machine the stock flange flat and drill out the threads and bolt up a 1350 superduty shaft.

I also plan on running a stock front CV in the rear. I dont think its gonna break w/ a stock TBI motor TBH.

Just as an FYI a stock front output flange will bolt on the SYE kit no problem.

I proposed that here once and everybody told me not to do it. I find it hard to believe that the stock front shaft would be long enough, so you're going to at least retube. In that case, why not start with a bigger C/V?
