Just finished up my 241 SYE and input shaft swap. On disassembly I had a lock ring on the speedo housing, just below the speedo gear. Now on reassembly the lock ring won't go. I can't get the groove on the shaft past the speedo housing bearing. The shaft has some play but just not enough I guess. Got any ideas?

You might have bought the wrong SYE kit. You need to make sure it was for a passenger drop case.

It's an ORD kit. I don't recall the needing that specification.

Well just because you don't recall needing that info it is irrelevent, i know for a fact that a drivers drop SYE will not work on a passenger drop case. Double check with ORD the kit they sold you to confirm the correct application.

Contacted ORD and just sent these pics. I made sure to mention it's a P side drop. Also, the output bearing on the speedo housing is sitting on splines and not a bearing surface.

The yoke clamps the shaft to the bearing on a SYE system so they don't use a snapring. You're doing just fine!

Good news. Thanks! I had to take it all apart anyway bc I messed up the range selector, so I got a chance to inspect it again. Sealed it all up yesterday so I am good go!
