synthetic rope?

what Synthetic winch rope are you guys using? i know master pull seems to be the best but that is way out of my price range.... i have a warn 8274 that needs a new brake and new cable. my plan is to switch it over to rope now rather then later. any general feedback would be great! Pros Cons of rope over cable and what a good yet budget friendly rope would be.

I have Rockstomper synthetic on my x8000i. Its Amsteel- blue

I love it


Easy to work with, easy to wind, easy to pull, etc.

The main thing ive noticed is I have to rewind it with quite a bit of tension or on a big pull the winds under the pulling line will look "smooshed" and take a pull or so to get back to normal.

Custom splice out of Kansas, couple years on it and no problems.
After running rope, there is no way I would go back to steel. Mainly because I don't get poked through gloves with the broken wires. Also the no memory thing. When a bunch is needed, just pull it out and it coils/lays on the ground. Cable is a pain to stand there and pull 20 or 30' out. I also like the ability to fix on the trail.

You can't go wrong with any well known brand. I have a couple different brands. No complaints and never going back to steel.

I ran the viking winch line in 5/16 on my XD9000I if your making the switch there are some things you need to watch for or you will damage your new rope.

- need to clean your winch drum up and get all the burs cleaned up from the cable this also aplies to any snachblocks you have or plan to use

I've had Viking line for a few years. Haven't used it a bunch but I haven't any issues.
