I have 5/16" steel cable @ 125' w/roller on my Warn HS9500i
Thinking it's time to replace with Rope & flat fairlead

I see there are some not so expensive choices on Amazon>>? Any good?

Looking for opinions on what to buy =
Brand
Rope Size & length
Fairlead and hook type

I have seen a few different Amazon ropes, they all look fine. Haven't heard any complaints. Good chance its all the same stuff, just different colors and names on them. There is no way all these companies are tooling up to manufacture synthetic rope. They are just buying it bulk and weaving ends on after cutting it to length.

I have a few of the new soft shackles, they are working well. You could move away from a hook and use them for attachment, that would eliminate metal projectiles all together. Unless you rip the bumper off!

I have a couple winches with synthetic and they're all 3/8", my last few winches were already spooled with synthetic rope.

winch_rope.JPG Thanks for the reply, after watching U-tube and google-ing the crap out of it.... I don't want to drop $500+ bucks on a buba-rope even with all the fancy features

SO I bought this for 89 bucks (money I won playing HotSpot hahaha :saweet:

The sleeve is nice. Wasn't sure I needed it. First time I used the winch it had to be hooked over a hard edge, worked great.

Cool man! I figure 100' of rope has to be WAY less weight than 125' worth of 5/16" cable. Plus that cable has got some miles on it from all the years wheeling back in the day...
Happy Friday !! :saweet:

I’ve read that if it gets muddy you want to unspool it and hose it off. Grit is supposed to act like sandpaper from the inside out.

Do-dad_bank.JPG What's the thought on these hella pricy do-dads they call winch rope shackle or similar =

Is this some kinda "jeep thing" or are they valid on function?

I usually end up pulling or cutting the hook off my winch lines and using a bow shackle. I have picked up a couple of soft shackles here lately and used them.

Where your winch had cable on it, you may need to smooth or replace your drum (depending on how it looks), make sure there’s nothing to snag or cut your rope.
