t 2wd 400 to 4x4 400?

The short answer is "probably". It depends on what how far the tailshaft sticks out of the th400 and what t-case adapter you're going use.

That's said, I have done it using a 2wd th400 on a race track pattern 205.

X2

I have a 2WD TH400 with the 9 1/4" long output shaft that has a threaded hole for a yoke (2nd one from left, top row of the attached pic). It worked with a factory round NP205 and adapter with the short 32 spline input gear. You would possibly need to change the TH400 output shaft for other t-cases.

What t-case do you want to use?

planning on 203/205 combo bolted to 454. Had an oppurtunity to purchase a 400 for 200 but it was a 2wd tranny

Too long in less you want to use a 208 adapter and drill and tap the front of the 203.

if youre gonna rebuild it just put the right shaft in it. easy cheesy.

OR just find one with a 203 behind it.

ord has been doing drill / tap on the 203 to the 208/241 pattern . no problems.

i did it on my 203/205 i did to mate it to the 4l80-e i used. and if you do this get the 4x4 shaft in the 4l80-e. it will work better.

i have a whole blow up and reman step by step in the tech section. tons of pics.
