My truck has a T-400 and it doesn't kick down into passing gear when I hit the gas. Any idea what is wrong?

where is the switch? any way to test it?
It varies I am not sure where it is on your model. you could look at a wiring diagram and trace it out, It will be on the carb or on the gas pedal, they put them in both places.
