T-case clocking.....

ok, I'm familiar with the process, but what are the advantages (other than raising ground cleaance) and disadvantages?

I'm mainly concerned with how it affects the front shaft, exhaust, t-case shifting, etc...
 
It makes the angle on the front shaft steeper, you may have to cut the floor to clear the t-case, exhaust depends on how its routed but clearance can be an issue (dual exhaust is hard to fit on the passenger side). The shifter isn't generally an issue.

The only advantage is clearance.

well, with the custom floor and 1' bl, I'm not worried about clearance...

I'm really just deciding if it's worth it to smooth out the bottom, possibly a trick belly-pan, in exchange for possible front shaft issues..

need to look up the overall lengths again for the various combos..
 
Do you wheel the truck and need more clearence? If yes then it is probably worth it. I did it to my truck and it helped out with getting high centered alot. I clocked my 208 2 positions. I had to bash up the floor pan pretty hard but it fit without cutting the floor or modifying the dual exhaust.

My shifter linkage had to be extended about 1" to work properly. My front shaft is still a stock CV, but I had to extend it and grind out all the stops to make it work. I do not have a ton of front suspension flex though. If you have alot of flex you will probably need to do more driveshaft work.

Clocking it 2 positions isn't as easy as plug and play. You will also need to build a new crossmember/skidplate to make the mod worth while. Depending on your lift you might have less problems with the driveshaft. I have a 4.5" lift.

well, it'll be 75% street, 25% trail when it comes out...

I'm thinking I may do it and leave a custom x-member till later.. the main portion will be done, fit to the floor... and I want my shafts and angles set since I'm gonna do nice new Jesse shafts, hopefully 1410 stuff...

Also doing the driveline e-brake at this time too, so thats another reason to do it..

I'll do a nice tube/plate belly/x-member when I do my bumpers, etc down the road..

How does this affect the oiling/plug situation?

and anyone got any good links for clocking rings... 700/205, well, 350/205.... just a quick peruse of the bay is showing me 150, $160..
 
Mine is a 208. I havn't noticed any oil problems. I actually think it holds more oil now then it did in the stock position, or at least it seamed that way when I filled it.

I am not sure if the clocking ring for the 208/241's will work on a 205 even it fi is a round pattern.

iirc the only make the 205 8 figure round clocking plate and its about 150 bucks on ebay...my 205 is clocked because the doubler adapter was made to clock it belly flat
