Is there a differance in the trans/tranfer cross member on a gas and diesel K5? I had an 84 with a 6.2 that I changed for a 350. I know it came with dual exaust. I have an 88 now with a 350/std and there dosnt seem to be as much room around the T-case. I have Hedman big tube headers and they end about 2 inches befor the crossmember. I think I can order shorter collecters. worst comes to worst I can have one made.

1984 stuff and older had what we call a "Tall" crossmember and the 1985 to 1991 had the "short" crossmembers . Your 1988 would require you to run the passenger side under the crossmember while the older set up would allow both sides to go over the crossmember .

There are pro's and con's to each style .

sounds easy

So all I have to do is find a "tall" cross member that is befor 84. Its that simple? Thats sweet I have a t-case out of a 78 K5 and the cross member is still on it. Thanks for the info!!
