I tore a spare 205 apart to twin stick it. I'd like to put it back together but no where in town, that I've checked, stock the gaskets I need. Would it be ok to use RTV on the PTO cover and adapter?

i used only rtv on my 203 when itore it down just to see how it ticked. no leaks. i think it would be ok

when i took apart my np208 i used rtv no problems worked like a champ.

The PTO cover wont be a problem but the adapter needs the gasket as it acts like a shim for the input bearing. I have a couple 205 adapter gasket here if it's a firgure 8 style. I "might" even have one for the round pattern but IIRC i think i used it to make gaskets for the detent ball plugs.

You run the risk of cracking the adapter or bearing retainers if you don't use a gasket.
