So im finally trying to decide what T-Case i have in my backyard. I bought it for 50 bucks from a guy who had it in a old barn, he said he came out of a 60's model suburban? All i know is it is a spicer t-case. The tag on it reads

Napco Industries Inc.
T120436 - serial
300121 2 - B/M
23 - Model
spicer

So if im understanding this right the spicer model 23 transfer case was produced mainly to convert 2x4 to 4x4 in early model trucks?

I love google and its very usefull but i was trying to see if anyone had one in there rig or knew about one from personal experience. But thanks much for the link if i read it right and i get drunk enough i might try to convert my 62 to 4x4 one of these days maybe...

It does look like a divorced case thou.

that is how the Napco conversion worked, it just added a t-case with crossmember, a solid axle that bolted in place of the 2wd front suspension, and the corresponding driveshafts. i think it has a higher low range than a np205. i think it mentions in the link that there was a ford specific model 24 that is almost identical but drivers drop.

too bad he didn't still have the suburban complete, i bet it was a beast of a rig. a couple years back there was a 60-66 one ton panel on ebay that had a napco conversion on it...neato.
