Ok so researching a Duramax/Allison 1000 swap and wondering what tcase will work.

I think they come with the NVG-263 in the GM's but it is electronically controlled, so anyway to hook it up in my 85 K5 or can I use it with the shifter?

Also what about a NVG-261 or NVG-271? They are all geared at 2.72:1. The NVG-271 is found on Fords and uses a manual shifter.

I just found out the 261 is manual too, but now I have people telling me the whole drivetrain might be too long to fit. Duramax/Allison/261

The problem with that setup is the width of the T-case. I'm pretty sure those later model HD cases are too large to fit between the framerails on a K5. Petersen's planed on using one in their Ultimate K10, but had to change plans when they found out the t-case wouldn't fit. With a cost no object project like this, I'd go with a Stak (3 speed, although I really don't know much about them) or an atlas.
