just bought a 05 5.3 with a 4l60e with the factory t-case,i think its a 241 not for sure. But my question what case can i use, with the 4l60e my k5 is a 87 with a 700r4 and i believe it case a 208.

I feel like i know the answer, but cant swear to it. So here's a bump to the top for you.

Look for a 241 from a 1990-1991 K5 or Suburban, it will have the passenger side drop, VSS output signal and 6 bolt pattern to bolt to the 4L60E adapter. Make sure it is from a 1/2 ton with 700R4. The case you have out of the 2005 is probably an electric shift 246 and will have a drivers side drop. If it is a good one you should be able to sell it and be ahead on purchasing the 241.

Can it be a 1/2 ton truck, or does it have be a burb, k5?

Needs to be from a burb or k5 to get the correct (right) side drop.

the important thing is the solid front axle.... trucks went to independent front suspension and the drive shaft was moved to the driver's side. blazers and suburbans remained solid front axle with the passenger side transfer case you need.

another way to do it is get an advanced adapter's kit to adapt your transmission to an old style transfer case.
i used one to bolt my NP205 up to my 4l60e.

How did you get your vss out of a 205, does the adapter kit have it?
