I like both designs. I have always liked the round one. Have had mine for years. Only problem with the design is that there is so much to the picture that on a hot day it makes my back sweat something fierce. I would take that the other design would be the same way? Like I said I got mine years ago not sure if they are even made the same way nowadays.
My vote is this really big on the back and a small one on the front

I know we have got to have some good graphic design people on this site. Let's come up with something new. I like the traditional CK5.com small logo on the front, but let's come up with something kick-a$$ on the back 
Here is my thinking on all of this, I want to get a simple logo tee going quickly, something simple and something without to many colors in it. This way I can have a t-shirt available now while I take my time and get 3 or 4 other fancier options going later.
Keep in mind this t-shirt will just be the first of many (okay 3 or 4). And also why I haven't had a t-shirt in years as there are so many directions to go in.

If you are not going to do something new then I like the wrench logo on the back for now. I am not a huge fan of the cartoony red round logo but it would be my second choice with the big CK5 badge being my last choice since it's already on the front breast.

The thing I don't like about the new wrench logo is that you don't see enough of the k5. And I agree w/ truckaholic, the old logo looked a little cartoony.
How about an arch w/ "Built not Bought" over the top, a little more realistic drawing of a k5 in the middle w/ a similar POV as the old logo, and crossed wrenches w/ "CK5.com" written in the wrench.

My second choice would be this on the back. "built not bought" could either be under it on the back or small on the front.
I voted for the wrench logo but, imo, lose the blue. Less ink on the back = more comfortable to wear.
At some point you need a 1st gen version too. I'd buy one for sure then.
Also, if I could make one more suggestion, make a "summer" version too. I don't know how "high-quality" you plan on going with for the material but I like nice thick shirts for fall and winter but in the summer a much thinner shirt is much more comfortable. With a lighter fabric it might be cheaper too.
