So...

t56 in a 1996 camaro, wind it up in 2nd, won't go into 3rd. Will go into 1st or 5th, so not a normal lockout
Has had clutch and slave replaced, and go...

Will it go into 4th? If not then probably a fork issue. Is it only when wound out? Or will it work if just normal driving?

If it has high miles on it, or has been driven/shifted hard then it could be time for a rebuild. Syncros may be on their way out. Or cracked/bent shift fork. More so if it has an aftermarket shifter with adjustable stops and they weren't set up correctly.

Mine had issues with reverse and I was into it a few times before I finally got it sorted out.

if you take the engine to redline in second and shift to third, third basically locks out and the trans will gift you with 1st or 5th. If you shift at 5k or less, it works like normal.

My money would be on being worn out or getting there then. Spining that many R's the syncros can get the next gear up to speed fast enough. Ever try speed shifting a 465 and how you move the stick then have to wait for the gears to catch up before it falls into gear? Same concept.

Could try some fresh fluid, but I doubt that'd help much. I still wouldn't rule out a bent/cracked fork. Either way...I think you'll be pulling the trans as there is no way to get into one with it still in the car. The tail housing will come off, allowing access to reverse and 5th but not much else.

Depending on how the exhaust is ran, pulling the trans is like an hour job. Really isn't that bad on those cars.

Thanks for the input. Unfortunately was about what I was thinking too

LS 4L60e swap it

I wanted to say this earlier but sense you pretty much got your answer I'll be a troll.

Wait a minute, isn't there a skip shift feature built in on those years? I thought it killed 2nd and 4th if you were light on the throttle, not 3rd.
