I just re-installed some editing software so hopefully these pics will work this time.
This on shows how the tach is mounted and the wire run down the column.

One more pic from the driver's seat, it blocks the 2 big gauges a little but its not bad unless you're hot rodding it.

and another on from the other side of the column of the mount and cable run.

Re: Steering wheel?

The tach came from the dealer, it might be in the GM performance parts catalog. The steering wheel came off a pick-up 88 and up til air bags were standard. it bolts right on. You can find some cool ones from z-24 cavaliers that will bolt on also.

i just fitted one on my 87
the tac you have there is sweet
but kinda big ya think??
i'd suggest installing it into the dash?

i put a sun super tac
on mine by using a steel raditor hose type clamp
i painted the clamp to match the column.
i have it mounted so that when in park it is almost under the wheel when i shift into drive it moves with the column.
with all other gauges in view aside from the right directional / but we dont use them in Boston..

did it all with one hand because iam still in this god dam cast..

Re: Steering wheel?

That is the same way I have mine mounted. Well I use a large hose clamp around the column, but it is mounted in the same exact spot on my tilt column. The wires run the same way. Coincidence?
