I have a 91 K5 Blazer and I am replacing the dash and gauges. Going with Autometer ES gauges. I was going to replace the big fuel gauge with a Tach gauge but I was wondering if there is even a tach sensor/plug already there behind the overlay??? If not, is that something easily acheiveable? Thanks in advance.

there wont be one righ behind the gauges, but you can run one from the distributer into the truck. just find what color wire it is in your distributer (its called a "signal wire" i believe) and slice into it

There should be a single white wire coming off the coil connector that goes to nothing. That's your tach lead.

awesome, thanks guys. I am thinking about going with these gauges:

You can customize font, text, color, and glow. I can get a 6 gauge set for about $700-800. They have a great warranty with them as well. The Autometer ES gauges I was looking into would cost me over $1k. Instead of spending the money on an expensive dash like from covans classic, I am removing the alumnium gauge overlay, powdercoating it white to match the exterior of my blazer and the bottom painted part of the inside under the dash. Then I am going with black gauges with reverse red glow at night. Its gonna be sick! Just have to finish my rest of my interior before I start on it!

Also, who makes a trans temp kit to run the sensor thats good and reasonably priced?

I bought a AutoMeterII gauge and mounted it in the driver's side of the transmission on an exisiting port. It also came with the hardware I needed to install it.

whats up Charlie! Yeah, but I want my custom gauges to match. Wonder if I can use that B&M kit with gauge and sensor stuff and just use the wire and sensor and hook that up to my new gauge? Im kind of picky when it comes to matching stuff up.

On a side note, finally taking the Blazer to the shop Thurs to have the interior done.....spray in bed liner, suburban power seats installed, tailgate hinges replaced, and some custom Coverking covers installed. Its gonna be sick. Doing the dash, dash pad, and gauges within the next couple weeks.

I know what you mean. My gauges don't really clash because I have my 2 autometers in a gauge panel onthe front of my console. I'd love to redo my dash gauges some time but that'll have to wait. I'm currently gathering parts for my next project. :D Be sure to post up some pics of the interior. It ought to look great!

you know it! I kind of have a system when fixing up older vehicles. This is my third one I have worked on. If the truck runs fine, then I jump into the looks of the vehicle first. Usually start with new tires and wheels and all new lights, grill, etc. Then I jump into the interior and redo everything possible. THEN i look into suspension and lifts while silmutaneously looking into making more power out of the motor. So I am thinking by the end of this year the suspension needs addressing:D
