Tachometer Installation

auto or manual on the column or the floor?

Ive got one wire ran to the tach side of the hei (Green wire), one ran to ground (mounting bolt) and then both the illumination and the key-on are ran from a keyed source on the fuse panel. If you have an aftermarket radio, there is also an illumination wire from the factory harness that you might be able to use for gauge illumination if you wanted to.


Because i have an auto on the column, i flattened my 3 3/8 super tach X gauge's mounting bracket (where it was rounded for the column, simply used my vice) and then used one of the screws that mounts the ash tray on, its not directly in your view, but i rarely need it and sometimes just like to see if the converters staying locked or bouncing back and forth, or try and diagnose why shes dying down instead of dropping into passing gear. For an auto its not really needed but i like having it.
 
Pretty simple... I believe its a green wire coming off the headlight switch is the one you need to tap into to get the dimmer to work.
