Putting an nv4500 in my 1990 suburban soon and dont have a factory tachometer. I would like to add a tachometer. Wondering if anyone has any recs for one would like to replace my large fuel gauge on the right with a large tac and small fuel gauge at the bottom like some factory ive seen. Anyone seen any gokd aftermarket options for this ? How hard is it to swap? If i cant come up with something factory looking i will throw one on the dash but i would rather the factory look /style. Thanks for any info mike

Spendy but looks like a good kit and if it all works well probably worth it. That may be the route i go unfortunately they list my model as back ordered i will call them and check eta. Any other opinions or is this pretty much the way to go?

Called lmc they said 6-8 weeks if they can find a vender. Sounded questionable.

Other option is to Ebay it:
ie C60 cluster: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1973-1987-...577160?hash=item28aa766308:g:YA0AAOSwQuFgJunI ( No association, just searched "87 chevy tach" and found that one )

Allows for adding an air pressure gauge and higher range on the oil pressure (good luck finding a sender)
Should be able to mix and match parts to make what you want. Just watch the pin out on the multi-pin connector, it changed throughout the years.

im running a GMsport tach. It’s discontinued but i found mine secondhand on a forum. They also pop up on eBay from time to time.

I also wanted a tach but didnt want to redo all of my gauges so I added a 3 gauge pod on top of the dash on the far left. Tach, water temp, trans temp and engine oil temp. Trans and engine oil temp are on the same gauge and just switched back and forth with a toggle. I wanted a real water temp with numbers instead of a gauge that just says H and C. I used Bosch gauges which are dirt simple to install and cheap but seem to be well made. I spent good money on some fancy electronic gauges that allowed you to change color and had memory and other cool geeky functions but those gauges failed rather quickly. Went to Bosch and haven't had a problem since.

This might be an option. I would have to swap the tac into my gauge set since mine does not run speedo cable its elect and most all i find are speedo cable. Thanks for the reply

If i dont find a good factory opt i will be looking for a stand alone tac to mount on left side of dash.

90/91's are tougher to put a factory style tach in due the cluster housing. You would have to use a C60 style tach since the open hole in the corner where the little fuel gauge would go is sectioned up for indicator lights.

Yes you could dremel them out and deal with the rest of the install. I went a different route. I had @mrk5 make me a gauge overlay for my aftermarket Sun tach that looks like a factory gauge. Same colors and fonts used on the numbers and dial. Looks like what could have been a gm accessory back in the day.

Got any pics of this ? Does he still make them for a cost or is it more a one off for a friend kind of thing? Made the above post at 2pm and never hit post till now lol

There are pics in my build thread. I'll post one here when I get home from work tonight.

@mrk5 has a shop that makes any kind of sticker you want. I think it cost me something like $25-30 to have him lay it out and print up two for me.

Here's the only downside of my idea, my tach isn't 100% accurate. Part of it is the aftermarket tach with my 8.1 ecm. Part of it is the fact that I removed the needle in order apply the sticker to the face. I didn't get the needle back on right apparently. I've taken it apart twice since I put it together in efforts to dial it in better. It's close, but not 100%.

If I was to do it again I would slit the sticker from the center to the 6:00 position to allow the sticker to be installed without disturbing the needle position.

Sorry for the glare, but here it is on the bench.
