...any tips...? Suggestions?

4 of the 6 I checked were dead...

seriously thinking about pulling the inner fenders...I'm getting too old to bend and fold myself into these hard to get into places any more...

I have been all week...pleaseLorddon'tletthembeswollenpleaseLorddon'tletthembeswollenpleaseLorddon'tletthembeswollenpleaseLorddon'tletthembeswollenpleaseLorddon'tletthembeswollen

put 2 new 800 CCA bat-trees in it today...unlabeled Interstates, 2 for $95 ea.

If they're swollen, keep unthreading them til the tip catches the threads.

If the rearmost passenger side ones are swollen up,or rusted enough to have whittled the 3/8" hex down to nothing, and you have A/C--welcome to the third stage of hell...:doah:..I'm dreading replacing those on my 85 Suburban..I am pretty sure no one has attempted too since it was new..

Anyone ever try the "start it up and BLOW them out" method, when one wont come out after unscrewing them..?..I haven't had the nerve too ,but have been tempted--the frontmost one on my 82 pickup on the passenger side unscrews, but no amount of pulling on them with vise grips or spinning them in a chucked drill in reverse has got it to come out--so before I busted it off,I screwed it back in and said "F" it!..its started OK on 7 out of 8 the past 10 years..

I haven't had much luck the AC G60's ,the wire terminals and hex rots away on them in a few years--guy at Autozone gave me 4 new ones free after I showed him my recepit, now three of them have alligator clips holding the wires to whats left of the tabs the wires are supposed to slide onto already..road spray here is like battery acid..:(

good news - it went well. Got 5 of the 8 changed, they looked like charcoal briquets
I reckon they had been changed before, they were they same diameter as the AC's I installed.

Didn't finish due to many factors, weather has starting to rain, wife is recuperating from arm surgury, and we are expecting out of town comapny...

I have nos. 1, 7, and 8 to change still...this is the easiest the truck has started since I've had it :waytogo:
