Tomorrow morning I am tackling my dana 44 front axle on my blazer. I need any and all pointers. I am getting a ball joint press from oriellys. I am looking up for a write to help guide me through the ball joints. Also I need torque specs for the ball joints castle nuts etc.

The axle shaft should be pretty straight forward, but need to get the torque specs for the carrier bolts so I cna torque correctly after installing new axle shaft selas. thanks a bunch.

I am going to see what I can find for write ups.

might be wrong but castel nuts are 80lbs top 100lbs bottom usely there a paper in the box saying how much. differencial carrier bolts (4 bolts holding diff) around 65lbs.

lower bj nut 75 #s

upper bj adjustment sleeve in the upper "C" 50 #s

upper bj nut 100 #s

In that order. Once you have the new bjs in the knuckle and the adjustment sleeve threaded into the upper C, install the knuckle on to the axle and snug the lower bj nut and the upper adjuster by hand. Then torque the lower bj nut. Then torque the upper adjuster sleeve. Then torque the upper bj nut.

Do not use any grease or anti seize on the bj studs or they will not grip right and mess up the final values.

Also, when torquing things down, keep moving the knuckle assembly back/forth by hand to make sure it's not binding up. There should be very little resistance moving it by hand.

Diff carrier bearing caps 65 #s
