tail gate latches?

Does any one else have a little notch in their right hand side tail gate latch bar like i do?

Its worn so perfect i cant believe the gate vibrating did that. My tail gate rattles, shakes and pops when going going over bumps or corners.

I solved the problem by taking off the tailgate.

Was it like that from the factory for body flex or was it just from ware?

They just wear out. Both sides of my current truck were worn and gate would rattle on every bump. I can't remember which it is but you can either flip them upside down or change them left to right AND then upside down...
You'll get a little more life out of them before you need replacements.

Well by looking at it i need one replacement for sure. Any ideas on places to get them? Are they in reproduction or is this a used part only.

Nobody makes them as far as I know but I really haven't looked either...
I picked up a bunch years ago from GM.
