Tailgate carpet ?

I searched a little while i was making purchases on LMC and did not see one so i was wondering is there a vendor that makes a carpet panel to cover the tailgate on a 87 Jimmy ? Mines is all scratched up and i dont want to paint it or use bed liner.

I don't think I've ever seen carpet on a tailgate.

I cant recall seeing one with carpet either..
I have seen a truck tailgate bed liner panel adapted to a K5 and a Suburban tail gate though..guys who used them as work trucks used them to protect it..

I saw several late 80’s with carpet on the tailgate. Long enough ago I don’t know if they were factory or not. I would think it would be easy to DIY.

I had carpet on my tailgate for many years (actually it's still on the K5 gate, I've just switched to a truck gate). When I replaced all the carpet they had an option to buy additional yards of the same material (IIRC the company is NPI). I covered the gate in dynamat, then glued carpet to the mat. The last few years I had some trouble with it wanting to pull off. The difficulty is the removable access panel and the ribbed construction. You have to use multiple pieces, leave screw holes and around the handle the carpet gets pretty thin, so it wants to pull loose.
