Tailgate fitment, new to old

It think but could be wrong. You need all the hardware from 73-80 to make it work.
You might be able to unbolt hardware from current tailgate and transfer to new one,I know the trunnions are different sizes but I think that’s the only difference.
I have a 79 gmc tailgate on an 89 blazer, bolted right in, im using hardware from a 1974 k20 because the hinges are setup for not quick tailgate removal.
80 tailgate on 85-86 box no problems. did it on a friends truck .
Actually I'm thinking I have the early style bed after looking at pics again.
It's got the old style fuel filler hole on one side. And it looks like someone grafted a door on to the other side.. and it looks like I already have the same style tailgate I want lol... Mines just bad.

The last 6 digits of the VIN will tell you what the assembly number is. Mine is somewhere in the 500,000 range. So it's not one of the early ones.
The tailgates interchange but the hardware changes somewhere around 79-80. Just use the gates original hardware.
