tailgate handle removal and replacement

Hi all! We have a 1988 K5 blazer that we would like to replace the rear tailgate handle to with a new one. i was told this is a complex job due to all the workings of the tailgate and the glass in he tailgate. is this the case?

I'm assuming you mean the release handle on the inside, in which case I personally would not call that complex. What sucks is when the little armature bits are bent and you have to try and get it all bent back into shape.

Also, wisdom from working on old cars tells me that nothing is ever easy and some stupid plastic doodad will always break and halt your progress until you find a replacement plastic doodad. Not complexity, just reality.
