Will a truck tailgate from a like year bolt into my k5? Also how do you guys that have soft tops like them? Thanks

That question has never been asked before, I doubt anyone will know at all :surepal:

TRY SEARCHING NOOB!!!

Come on Robert, isn't that a little harsh? He is not a member and i don't think he has access to the search feature. Everyone has to start somewhere and he's starting here just asking a simple (to us anyways) question.

Yes, any truck tailgate from 73-87 will bolt onto your blazer. Obviously you'll need all the hardware along with the tailgate as the blazer gate mounts differently. The provisions for the truck gate is already on the blazer quarters.

thats the one thing i never get about a lot of forums. wouldnt that be the one option youd want a new person being able to access?

I think it was past Robert's bedtime, that is not his usual pleasant self.

Anyway, I am having a new gate painted for my K5 as we speak. It was from an '85 truck. As mentioned above, 73 to 87 will fit. If you pull one from a salvage, be sure to get all the mounting hardware including the rubber stops. The stops help center the gate, and of course keep it from rattling.

Yeah maybe a little, thats just stupid if registered users cant use the search. I know most are lurkers for some time before regestering and as many times as this has been asked........I assumed....... you know what they say about assuming....I guess I was just in a mood. I can be that way. I offer my humble appology. :D 999.999% of the time I'le help anyone with anything, you just cought me on a bad day I guess. I didn't get to work on my K5 that day.

Are you just doing away with a top? I was either thinking of sliding a piece of scratch resistant plastic into the slots in the top and letting it rest on the tailgate or going with a soft top if it's not to spendy. Thanks to all for the info.

i've asked this before, but still no answer.

if you put a pu tailgate on a k5,...do you lose the seal into the tub? i spend some time in muck and water 1/2 up my doors, and am curious if i put a pu tailgate on my k5, will it let water flood the tub from around the tailgate or will it still seal up?

Truck gate on K5 means no more seal unless you come up with something yourself.
