Tailgate problems on 72

When I open the tailgate on my 72 Blazer the latchs that hold the tailgate to the body do not return to the out position. I also don't see an access panel on the tailgate to look inside. What can I do to fix it? Thanks

see any rust on them? try spraying some pblaster in them.. are they bolted on?

I have tried to use WD40 and it didn't work. Also forgot that when I pull the handle to open the tailgate I have to push it back closed and then pull out the latches with channel locks. Thanks

There are 3 bolts on the inside of the tailgate.Loosen those 3 bolts.You can adjust the tailgate lever that way.

Mine was kinda tight as well untill I sprayed some WD40 and readjusted those 3 bolts.

Give it a try and see what happens.
