tailgate question

question on the tailgate. I have the typical tailgate crack. At the corners of the windows it has formed a stress crack. Last time we painted it we welded it and filled it, but its back. Is there a final fix to this?

how are the hinges? If they are really stiff then you will have to use extra force to shut the tailgate which puts undue stress on the shell. You can buy tailgate shells from LMC I believe. I welded some metal in the tailgate and put extra helpings of duraglass in it to stiffen it up, sandblasted and worked the hinges. Haven't got it all back together yet, so I can't tell you for sure.

I too welded mine back together and painted it but once again it is cracked open. I am getting ready to do body work again so I will be looking at adding some flatbar or something to the inside to try and help it.
