tailgate question

I feel extremely dumb for having to ask this. when i bought my 84 k5 two years ago the tailgate had no glass in it and was covered in cancer. I knew my uncle had a spare so i gave him a ring and he told me to come get it out of his way. I was really surprised when i showed up and it had a new window and motor in it. The trans and rearend went out shortly buying it so i had to save up and replace both so i finally was able to get to the tailgate. I took the old gate off and started to put the new one on and the mounts keep hitting the glass. My question is how in the hell am i supposed to remount this damn tailgate. It's really frustrating bc this should be so easy. hell converting my 14bff to disc brakes and replacing the 10bolt was simple. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Which mount is hitting the glass? The hinges themselves bolt to the inside panel of the tailgate, but they are not in the area of the glass.

Edit: sorry, I got thinking about it, the hinge slides into the gate then gets bolted to the inside panel through the tailgate. You may need to raise the glass a little to clear the hinge while you are getting it bolted in.
