So just got done fixing my tailgate and got me to thinking. I should ask ck5 about a problem I've had for awhile but just lived with.

Tailgate always worked flawlessly before. Then just started, would go up about half way and stop. Had to push on window to get it to roll all the way back up. I'm figuring that's probably just those styrofoam things need to be recentered. Not the real problem.

Real problem is, sometime after that my key switch on the tailgate quit working for down. It'll still roll the window up but nothing happens (noise, movement, nothing) when turned other way to go down. Does this just mean my switch is going out and needs to be replaced? Or is there some other underlying problem I'm not seeing. Oh yeah, window goes down fine using switch in truck. Thank guys.

As far as the going half way up and stopping, you need to change the felt in the window chanels, it's binding when it twists.
As for the switch, I believe it's bad since the other switch works, unless the contact is lose which can be easily checked.

FELT?! It jammed up awhile back & I used some break loose lubricant and it did the job (that stuffs amazing). I had no idea there was suppose to be felt in there. There's definetly not any now. I hate it when I do this ... I'm gonna go way overboard taking the thing apart and it's going to be the newest best working tailgate on a thousand dollar blazer around. Oh well, guess I gotta replace the channels.

Edit: contact loose? So am I to believe there will be two wires? One for up and one for down? The down one might be loose. Alright I can check those
