tailgate/rear window problem??

On my '88 k5 the rear window when going down or up...binds and slows down then makes a loud pop like the window is gonna break then slowly proceeds down.

Also how can I adjust my tailgate so i dont have to push really hard to open it?

How come all of a sudden when i lower my tailgate the window doesnt want to go all the way in flush it was working a week ago???

I have this Haynes manual but its not helping much

Sorry bud but you really need to do a seach on that one.
I think it has been dicussed a couple hundered times.

i did and i found many different answers I didnt know if anyone has resolved to one that works

Most of the time it just relates to a lack of lube on the gears or something coming loose. You'll more than likely figure it out once you dig in.

In my opinion.. most rear window problems can be traced right to the cable (window regulator cable). It gets in a bind.. it breaks, it gets just plain worn out. Mine was working great.. but started doing the popping thing a while back. Then yesterday it started going up slow .. then when I rolled it down again it went even slower. I thought "screw this" and tried to rol it back up, and it quite. Tried again, snap..

Opened it up.. broken cable. It pretty much just twisted in half. 35 bucks and it's faster than before.

The only problem I ever had on my old K5 window, was cable caused as well. Might be worth looking into.

well all of a sudden its not binding and i am buying a new motor....Wat exactly lets the window go all the way down?

It was hitting on these 2 tabs i just bent them all the way in and it goes all the way down now w/o having to put it down

Wat about the little support that is on a spring wat is its purpose?

That mechanism is a safety device that does not allow the tailgate to open unless the window is all the way down.
