ok guys ...I NEED HELP PLEASE !!..i am trying to rebuild my tailgate with electric window and i recieved all new internal parts from LMC...
Problem #1....when installing drivers side window channel (metal part in tailgate with the felt that glass slides down in ) no matter where or how I route the damn wires to electric motor they get in way of the channel piece ...for starters can anyone tell me if that little plastic wire clip goes in thru mounting hole clip in front or clip in rear ??
Problem #2...do I mount glass in bottom sash ,then install glass and sash in tailgate before or after installing weatherstripping(inner and outer glass seals)...and will it even fit thru with inner and outer seal installed ?? ?
or do i intall glass then try to slide glass in bottom window sash while in tailgate ??
...or would I install inner and outer window seals last thing after tailgate is all complete with glass installed ??
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ANY HELP OR ADVICE AS I AM ABOUT TO THROW A HAMMER ACROSS MY GARAGE

Not sure about the wires.. Put the sash on the glass and then install it before you put the inner and outer weather stripping on. If I remember correctly the window and sash will not fit through with the weather stripping on. Hope this helps.

I don't remember about the wiring, but put the sash on the window before installing it in the tailgate. Put the inner and outter seals on very last. Make sure everything works properly before putting those in. You can put some tape on the tailgate to protect the paint and glass during the install of the glass and sash assembly. Hope this helps.

The seals at the top of gate go in last, as well as the screw on corner pieces. The glass attached to the sash will fit into the gate with those seals and corner pieces removed. No need to try to mate the glass and sash inside the gate.

I'm not sure on the wire routing, and my gate is all buttoned up again. I will tell you the side guide channels with the felt should be only installed loosely at first. Then when you can get the glass in place you can snug them up a little. If the glass goes up and down smoothly you can tighten them up all the way.

Thanks everyone for the great help....i really appreciate all the replies...gonna work on it tomorrow and will let you know how it goes ....thanks again

Ok guys....new problem ...lol...how tight should the glass fit in bottom sash ?? (I have the new rubber insert but the glass fits pretty loose in the bottom sash) because now the new inner and outer weatherstrips are so tight against the glass that when i roll window down the botton sash pulls off the window...shouldn't the fit between glass and sash be so tight that window doesnt pull out ? seems the old stuff i scraped off glass was a thicker cork type material but the new part i recieved from LMC is a thinner rubber....plus now that the new weatherstrippings are new the electric window motor barely moves the window up or down...any suggestions with this problem??
Thanks again for any help

I didn't use any new parts when I went through my tailgate...

What I did to secure the sash to the glass was fill the sash with a construction adhesive (liquid nails) and push the glass into the sash, then let it set and cure. Mine hasn't budged.

My felts are about 50% there on the side channels. Some thin areas...but I ran them. The weather strip up top I re-installed the outer and left the inner off. The glass runs pretty smooth up and down, and it's reasonably fast. Last I checked it never rained inside my truck so I wasn't that concerned. It doesn't rattle either.

I find the LMC rubber is too fat and too stiff no matter what part of the truck it's for. I guess the sash rubber is an exception...but that is the crapola you deal with when it's china made.

Try removing the inside strip, or even trimming it back so it barely touches the glass.

Thank you very much Rene for the help ..I will go get some Liquid nails tomorrow as that will solve that problem ...I did trim some of the inside weatherstrip off but tomorrow i wll trim more or remove it as I felt the same way as to why it was really needed cause it doesnt rain in my Blazer either
I really appreciate the help..THANKS

Sure thing. :waytogo:

You might want to give the outer a slight trim as well, if you think you can do it neatly. I would also look at removing the trim entirely and see if the felt tracks are also contributing to the drag on the motor.

Yeah,I was considering that as a last resort....I installed the new side rails with new felts and it seems to slide easily thru there , it worked pretty good until i installed the weatherstrip....I think the adhesive between the glass and bottom sash will be a huge help. after i installed it i got to wondering if i was supposed to use some type of adhesive there..BTW...did you still use the rubber piece in there or just glass to bottom sash ??...thanks

I just put layers of duct tape on the bottom of both sides of my window until it fit really tight in the sash. It held until my tailgate came loose when I hit a big pothole in Omaha. That shattered the glass, but it still stayed in the sash. Now I just have plexiglass covering the hole. lol

When I put my new glass in, I clean out the old rubber/glue and glass from the metal sash. After I cleaned and painted the sash I bent the sides in a little bit to clamp down on the glass better. I used and adhesive in the sash and then put the rubber in and then the glass. Make sure it is snug and let it sit for a little while before you start messing with it.

ok guys ...new delima..lol...can anyone give me a definite answer to which way the bottom window sash is mounted on the regulator roller arms ? I have never had mine off since i purchased truck and they were mounted with "L" of the bracket up...bracket being the "L" piece where the 2 bolts mount to regulator slides on each end of the bottom sash(when tailgate is laying down)....the parts guy by me says the sash is mounted upside down and the "L" should be mounted with the L down....LOL...following me ..
here is a pic i found on here and mine is mounted upside down of this pic...can anyone say which is correct ??

thanks again

The pic is correct, the way you have it can create clearance issues I think.

Also, pay attention to your window when you put it back in. It may look flat but, it does have a slight curve to it and it will not go all the way up if it is not in right.. Ask me how I know..

i also had the problem with the lmc rear window seal the rubber grabs the glass if you go to your lumber yard and buy a can of spray on laquer and spray on several coats with light sanding with steel wool in between and good drying time in between it will make the seals real slick and the glass will slide easier

just an update ...Have the window working pretty good now ,I think my biggest problem now is just a matter of having an electric motor thats over 25 years old .....I ended up trimming the bottom lip of the inside weatherstrip which helped free up the glass and I used the Duct tape method for tightening up the sash to glass until I decide if I want to permanently adhere the glass to the sash.....on a sidenote..come to find out my sash was installed correctly compared to the pic i previously posted, I flipped the sash the way the pic showed but then it would hit the electric motor and not roll up all the way...all thats left today is to figure out how to do the minor adjustments on the side channels and button up the tailgate.
THANKS FOR ALL THE REPLIES AND HELP ....I REALLY APPRECIATE IT !!

*edit*....well i may be mistaken about the window sash direction...seems my way is different than everyones else's that ive found so tomorrow i will switch over again and figure out why its hitting motor....lol...

Does anybody make the rubber parts more precise than LMC? I plan to do this soon....
