Want to install the seal that goes on the inside of the tailgate around the bottom but tried with no luck. I tried using loc-tite weatherstrip glue and seal did not bond worth crap. Now let me say I do have a bedlined interior so trying to figure out how to install seal correctly and tight against tailgate with bedliner sprayed.

So should I try again and use tape to hold it tight? Do it in like 4 sections and tape it? Use better weather strip glue or what?

Here is the seal I am trying to glue down.

Just curious, how did you apply the loctite? If you just put it on and stick it down, it won't work at all. You have to apply a thin layer to both mating surfaces furst, let it start to dry and get tacky, then lay a bead down and stick them together.

If that's how you did it, then I dunno. lol.

Honestly I just put it on the tailgate since seal is so long and flimsy. Was not sure is had to put it on bottom only or both bottom and side of seal plus tailgate. Does not dry black as stated by loc-tite also.
How would you get it to fit tight and dry tight to tailgate?? thought about taping it off but not sure.

It only really holds if you spread a thin layer on both the tailgate and seal first, let them tack up, then put a bead down between those surfaces. I used the loctite stuff and when I did that it stuck pretty much instantly and it would take a lot to peel it back off.

ok maybe should get a friend over and do it as a 2 man team I spread a thin layer on tailgate and then have him hold seal while spread a thin layer on it, then I would take seal from him and lay it on tailgate after a few mins to let it tack up first.

Now did you just put it on the bottom of the seal or the bottom and the inner side of seal where would go against tailgate so would be sealed on bottom and sides? Understand what I am saying?

On my seal (this was for the door/cab seal) there was a groove, so I ran a bead along the groove then shoved a flat blade screwdriver in there and ran it along to spread it out.

I ran a small bead along the door, and used my hand with a latex glove to spread it thin.

Then, after they dried a bit, I ran a bead maybe 3-4 feet, stuck it on, 3-4 more feet, stuck it on, and so forth until I made it all the way around.

Does that make any sense? haha.

don't you need to use the 3m yellow glue - weatherstrip adhesive

Did you clean both surfaces to make sure there was no oil/grease? probably soap/water and a once over w/ some denatured alcohol.

plan on it today. Going out when wife get's home (hence baby sitting now) Got a friend coming over at 2 to help out least get hard top done as little more work need on the cab but should be ready late this week to reinstall top.
Hoping my vent window frames, sunvisor rods and few other parts should be painted this week by a friend that works in a shop, so more progress then just gotta keep telling myself keep moving.

om tried and it failed again doing it Phil's way.

So contacted my Upol rep for NC (yup he is in my phone) and told him the problem. He said to use upol tiger seal suppose to bond weather strip to raptor liner and is suppose to bond other things. Picking up a tube tomorrow from local body shop.

Your trick worked great for hard top side seals where sit on bed rails!!!!

Now to get left over old seal off front of hard top to make sure new seal will bond correctly.

Cool. It worked really well for my door seals. The bedliner has to be the wildcard.

Well Upol has been a big help with there rep in my phone. There Raptor liner sold me after using it!

OK for all you guy's that might be wondering what the hell to do when your weatherstrip will not stick to bedliner. Well here is the answer Tiger Seal by U-Pol. I picked up a tube locally but they had to get it from there vendor. Cost $20.00. You need to have a caulk gun to use the tube as designed.

So I put it on it 3 steps and let it sit for a couple mins and blocked it up added weight where need and within 15 mins was starting to turn hard with no reaction to bedliner.

All this info I got from the U-Pol rep for NC and man has he been a big help! U-pol is also the maker for Raptor liner for those that are curious.

Hopefully this will help others out in the future.
