tailgate sprigs

i want to take my tailgate off of my blazer in the summer and put on awind gate for looks and put the tailgate back on for winter can i eliminate them?not for sure what its purpose is?

i took mine off, the gate is a little heavy now tho

only purpose is to help lift the gate when u close it

I had to take mine off when I did the 1" body lift,and that gate weighs a lot now. The springs "help you" when you open and close the tailgate.
