Tailgate swap?

Hello all ,
Might I just say This site is awsome!
I love my K5 and it looks like there are ALOT of people like me! Right on!
Ok on to the stuff!

I have a 76 GMC Jimmy, 1/2 ton K5

My tailgate is cracked and the window crank assembly is missing teeth so the window wont roll up all the way.

My question is:
If i cant find replacement tailgate of same year "76" , Will a newer model tailgate fit fine? Maybe an 80's model powerwindow/tailgate? Will i need to do any modification beyond wireing?

it's my understanding that the tailgates will fit from 73-91. only thing i would suggest is bring a battery out or some way way to test a power window.

Has to be a blazer or jimmy tailgate though, suburbans are different.

Whats different about the burbons? The back end looks the same to me? Same manual roll up or power window?

So an 80's model blazer gate will fit? I just need the correct hardware for my year?

I beleave what MattK said is right but not positive, do you have a tail gate located already?
I am fixen to remove mine, a 81 w/ electric window. If interested let me know.
