Leave the tailgate closed, so most of the tension is removed from the torsion bars. Now go under the truck and remove the bolts that hold the lower end of the bars to the frame. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
Is the torsion bar the weird angled thing that connects to the truck and the tailgate? I have to remove that to get the tailgate off I think /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
Just bring the truck up to the rust belt, and after a winter or two the gate will be so far gone the bar will just flap around and make noise over bumps!
