the aluminum trim panel on my 91 Jimmy is pretty bad and I don't want to spend the $500 to replace it.:eek1:
so, i'm just going to get some different graphics to put on it.
just to make sure i'm right..... the rear tailgate trim piece is just held on with adhesive isn't it?? would hate to pull it and have to patch up a bunch of holes.

If you are talking about the long aluminum panel that is in the center of the tailgate - then the answer is no, it is not held on by adhesives. There are 6 or 8 holes through the tailgate sheet metal through which studs on the panel protrude. To remove the panel, you open the access panel on the inside of the tailgate and take the nuts off in there.

This is true for mid 80's K5s anyway. AFAIK they did not retool the tailgates later on.

oof! that's what i was afraid of! guess, i need to do some patching.....
thanks for the info!

Actually, i was off a little bit. There is a single row of 5 studs along the centerline of the panel. I just looked at mine sitting in the garage.
