1/2 ton status
I was working on the k5 for a couple of months last fall. When I finally got it going again I started having some tailgate problems. When you lift the handle there is not any resistance, and it doesn't do a thing. It looks like somehow the latches are stuck in the open position like when the handle is lifted up all the way. I looked under the handle to see what exactly happens when you lift it and the lever thingy that it contacts is already in the totally open position.
It wasn't a problem with the top on cause the rear hatch kept it up, but I just went topless and I really want to get this straightened out. The spring loaded latches on the side of the tailgate stick out just a tiny bit farther than where the bevel ends. I am assuming this is not right - cause they don't even come close to catching - but I don't know. They are not frozen, I can push them in and they pop right back to just barely past the bevel.
I don't even know where to start with this one. Any ideas?
