I have a manual tailgate complete, top is available as well. It's all from my '84. Thing is in pretty damn good shape, not show perfect but from 5 feet it could be mistaken as so. I put a soft top and truck gate on it so it's just hanging out in my garage waiting to get backed into.

The window doesn't go all the way down, it leaves maybe 1/4" of the top curved part of the glass exposed when the crank stops - I think it might have jumped a tooth at some point in its life. I don't think I have the locking key for it either but almost no one knows how to operate the thing anyways. If you're looking for a solution to your shot electric gate that doesn't work, this is a better solution than buying an LMC shell. no rust or rot except maybe at the way bottom edge where the paint chipped, but that would only be surface rust at most, and from the last couple years. If there's interest let me know and I'll take a bunch of pictures.

I really don't want to ship - it weighs as much as a tailgate, glass, and crank assembly would. So probably over 100lbs easy. Located in Central CT, I can get it into VT if necessary and will drive ~1 hour for the right price. That'll get me to almost any CT border.

PAD. as for price I have no idea but the shell is much better than I thought, the rust I was remembering was on the tub of the truck. I'd like to get $250 as all the seals seemed good, couldn't find any dents, and the window works. One of the pictures there shows how much the window sticks out, it's a negligible amount.

The only thing that's any sort of rusty are the assist bars and their hold downs which bolt to the tailgate.

Also worth mentioning that I'm open for trades but cash is always king. In need of tires for 15, 16, 16.5" rims anywhere from 32-40", a turbo 400 with converter (stock or other), and probably some other crap that I don't really need. Because that's how I roll.

brian, if you know anyone who makes it down to vermont I can get it there with a couple weeks notice usually. It would be in Ludlow, VT. Still way too far for you to drive down just for the gate but if you know a guy who knows a guy.....haha

Also if anyone on Geoff's (Poorboyk5) route between Mass. and Colorado is interested, I'm sure he can meet me at the truck stop on his way through.

Bump, every day this thing hangs out in my garage is another chance for my friends to knock it over! I'll take trades of tires, other body panels such as doors and fenders, 3.73 geared d60's.....etc etc. Hell I'll take home goods, also in the market for a surround sound system for my living room.

Have you looked really good inside for the condition of the side window felts/channels and the lower window sash. For the $250 all those parts will need to be in very good condition. I have a buddy who is redoing his K5 and could use it if those parts are also good. I am in SE MA and take trips to CT for work often. I could pick up if you're around during the week days.

I haven't cracked it open in over a year, I only did so to grease the channels as it had never been done before then I don't think. They should be good as before I owned it, it was a literal sunday grocery getter, garaged all its life. I can pop the cover if he's really interested.

I thought the price was fair considering it's not the crappy LMC one which retails for $200 as just a bare shell, not including shipping. I haven't seen a single blazer with a functional, not swiss-cheesed gate around here in my entire life except for show 1st gens. Don't forget, I take trades. Has he got anything good?

Not sure what he has for trades but he might have something as he's always dealing with somebody. I honestly picked up just before Christmas a tailgate up in the Worcester MA area for $100. OEM perfect condition, rust free painted blue, w/rear aluminum panel (not one ding in it) and all power. The rear glass was also the hard to find shaded one. I believe the gate came off a 90'or 91'. The side felts were rusty and not good but everything else was perfect. I actually bought it for the shaded glass but got the shell as a spare now. I know I did kind of steal it but it was his asking price. I have a contact out in the mid west who has had and gets them from time to time CUCV tailgates, new in the box from US gov. Not sure how he gets them but he does. Yes, they are CARC green. They are just the shell but brand new for $175. I guess it's what someone wants to spend. I will pass your add on to my buddy but I'm sure he'll want to know about the insides of the gate.
Thanks, Ted

I hear ya there, but your craigslist find is the outlier. You got lucky for sure as that's a screamin' price but I'm in no way willing to take that little, it's worth more to me than that and it would go in the attic.

What's the best way to check the guides, take the little cover off the top corners of the tailgate and peer down?

If you take the back cover off and raise the window up you should be able to check both guides on each side of the glass. You will also be able to see the window glasses' main sash at the bottom of the glass where the regulator attaches. With the window up all the way and out (best to do it flat on the floor with a pillow or small rolled up rug to rest the glass on) you can use your phone to reach in and take pictures of the guide rails. You can grab with your hands and try to twist them slightly. If they twist real easy just stop and they will break and even though are working, are in bad condition. Lots of times the felts inside the channels just go to crap anyway and because they hole moisture, cause the channel itself to rot away. The channels alone cost $100 to replace the pair that is why I'm asking. The glass sash, when you can get it costs close to another $100. (with shipping). It is the parts inside that add up even when the shell is excellent, the parts inside cost more. I know a perfect shaded glass, which they no longer make can bring $250 alone. Mine is not perfect as it has some typical scratches from the top wiper rubber and felt but was well worth the $100 I paid. Once you get inside and look post a few pics and I will let him know. His CUCV is in extremely good condition with just very minor rust but his tailgate has the typical rot at the bottom center and he needs to replace when he goes and gets the truck repainted. If I didn't find the gate I found I would have bought yours.

I should have pictures for you tonight so long as I don't go right to bed. I don't recall the sash having any rust but I'll send pictures of that too.
