Hello,

The title says it all. I need a rear window cable. I ordered one from LMC and one from GM parts direct. They were both junk. They didn't work right out of the box.

The original one had a two peice threaded metal connection to the motor. All the ones I have seen for sale have a one peice plastic connector with a cheap plastic bushing that holds the cable in. Anyone know where to get one that is good quality and will work?

Thanks,

Bill

I had two of that same style bind up. The plastic bushing got caught on the metal cable on the motor side. The connector would un thread itself from the motor.

Any where to get one with a two piece metal threaded connection on the motor end?

I bought one of the LMC cables twice - and the second one is still working well.

I found some PVC tubing that was the same diameter of the outer shell of the cable (a Bowden Cable, by name) and I used some of that Gorilla Urethane glue to glue it together and keep it from unscrewing and getting too long to stay into the gearbox. Also a couple of screw clamps included in the urethane glue help.

After the glue is dry and finished expanding, I just wrapped it all in narrow, cut down duct tape.

So far ---- so good. I use it a lot in temps below -10F and although it's kinda slow - it works up and down.

For lube, I use CV grease as it's a super low viscosity and doesn't seem to jell at -10F.

Someday I'll put relays and heavy wire in this whole vehicle! You can use the electric windows to sneak up on a cat. They are that slow!
