Rear window GLASS is broken. Motor is good. Where can I buy a replacement window? The rain is coming!

It's been many years, but I bought one from a regular chain auto glass store. Everybody I called had them. The clear (green) glass was like $120 and the tinted (forged) glass was like $500.

I got a replacement window back in November from Safelite. Total was $183.xx with me installing it. Would have cost a bit more for them to install. Wasn't a bad install at all.

Its actually quite easy. 2 ck5ers removed the glass from my dads k5 in 10 minutes before heading out in the dunes. Regulator was stuck. Was crazy another ck5er had it in their extra parts. :thumb:

I'm using a Hefty emergency replacement window on my 'burb tailgate.

It's been there since I bought the truck in December. I just redid the tape a couple of weekends ago. I used Gorilla tape my Bride bought me. I drive with the rear driver side window open a bit. Drove home from Raleigh at 65+ with no issues.

It looks ghetto, but it works. :dunno: It'll do 'till I get the spare $$ for a new window.

Think of it as a partial soft-top.

(I learned this from computer programmers. It's easier to dress a bug up as a "feature" than fix it.)

If the tailgate glass in my Suburban ever gets smashed,I'd be tempted to try making a plexiglass or lexan replacement...to me,glass is too fragile ,they rely on it to help hold the gate closed if the latch isn't perfect, and it gets thrashed around inside the tailgate when you slam it shut or go over bumps...pretty easy to have one smashed!..

I'm still wishing GM had not changed the rear of the bodies on Burbs to be "barn door only" or "tailgate only"after '78 or so ,rather than leaving it so you could simply bolt on either one you wanted...dumb move in my opinion..

I resemble that remark.

Also, we say "It's not a bug, it's an undocumented feature."
