I had the tailgate on my 88 K5 off recently, and after reinstalling it, the window won't go up. The wires should all be connected properly- the motor activates if I turn the key or press the switch to put the window down (but the window is already all the way down), but I get no response when I turn the key to make it go back up. It is acting like it isn't recognizing that the tailgate is up. How does the tailgate even "sense" that it's up? Is it possible that the alignment could be slightly different that it was before I took it off, and that's causing the problem?

I'd like to fix this pretty quick- I've had a few really cold drives with the rear window down the past few days...

There is a switch located IIRC on the driver side inside the gate that attaches to the latch to "sense" that the latch is closed. When this switch goes bad you end up with the exact problem you're having now. Take a look inside and make sure the wires are still hooked up to the switch. You could even make a short jumper wire and elimanate the switch either permanently (never forget that the gate is down and try to raise the window) or at least temporarily to test if the switch is infact bad. Just use the jumper by plugging it into both side of the wiring going to the switch.
