So apparently my truck is oddball raymond. I have bought and looked at several different tailight harnesses for my ttruck and they are all the same . The only problem is they don't work fit my truck's connection. I would have thought they would all be the same but apparently not. THe harness I just got from has a totally different connection. It has a trailer? style with 6 male connections/wires coming in. My harness on that needs to be replaced is 5 wires?:dunno: What is going on?

What year is your truck, i thought the flat connectors were the later model trucks, pretty sure my '89 has the flat one, but i had an '86 pick-up that had that round one.

My truck is an 84 k10. The harness I bought was from a cucv. The Cucv harness has 6 wires as a opposed to 5 on the 84.

I'm also pretty sure, the wiring in the later model trucks is wired alittle differently than older turcks, meaning, they don't ground the lighting fixtures directly to the body at that location of the light, it runs through the harness somehow or another.

I tried adding some side lights to my truck by patching into the front marker/turn signal lights, there were only two wires, i assumed one was hot, one was neg, i was wrong...

during one operation of the lights, if i grounded the add-on light to the body, then the other wire to one of the two feeding the front turn signals, one wire would light on while the parking lights are on constantly, or by switching the wire to the other, it would flash with the front turn signal, but not stay on otherwise..

I really haven't dealt with the wiring much more to figure out how everything is wired on these trucks, just thought that was weird.

and if you're thinking this was in fact a 3 wire deal, and was grounded at the light, i patched into the small (194) bulb wiring of the front fender side light, which does stay on constantly while all lights are on, but flashes when the turn signal is on. So again, it's weird to me currently how they are wired.

I belive the extra wire was the one that to the black out lights in the cucv bumper just find the extra wire that goes out to the connectors for the black out lights and remove it and wire your five wire plug onto the rest.

I also noticed that the cucv harness has two hunter green wires and one lime green wire, the k10 harness has two lime green and one hunter green. I've got a wiring diagram around here somewhere. Just need to find it.
