i have a chevy np208 tcase and when i went to change the seal i noticed the casing was chipped..so i just took it off, put a new seal in and i think it may be chipped deeper then the seal goes..i couldn't find a place that has one, so what would you suggest i do? its aluminum so the best i could think of would be rtv sealant and possibly some stronger glue like sealant that is stiffer..

its stupid, but its all i can do for now
any suggestions? JB WELD? HELP!

The one on my 241 has quite a large crack in it, I just posted up in the wanted section and got another one from a member here... you obviously can't do that right now, but if you pay up you can, or just check your local junkyard. Mine cost me like $15 shipped to my door.:waytogo:

If it's just 1/4" or less I would say RTV is your best bet, JB weld also would work, just fill in more tha needed and then file it flat.
If it's more, then buy one, if your junk yards don't have it, I have some I could send your way.

the closest junkyard is 45 mins and i dont even have my license yet! (6 1/2 months) but yeah i rtved it and i did a test, put the slip yoke end of the d.s. upward, and slid the housing over it and poured half a quart or so of fluid and let it sit, therefore no leaks!

You know the 208 is ATF right? Just checkin' before you start dumpin' it in :)

Yeah I just assumed he knew...:doah: Hopefully he got it right, I mean it'll be red when it comes out so hopefully he'll notice.:D

while youre in there replace that bushing. i think you started a thread about it though?

im about to say **** it and find an np205 and rebuild it...

what would that consist of?

i mean obviously junking the 208, rebuilding the 205, have the rear driveshaft cut and have a different connection compared to the slip yoke, right?
